I am excited writing this to you to announce the revival of 16 Blocks Magazine, the local arts and culture magazine covering Blacksburg and Beyond.
I am the Creative Director and Head of Marketing in the service of following up the initial run of #41 issues from 2007-2012 with an approach towardsmore expansive coverage, digital presence, public art, and much more.
(To know more about me, here is my bio page)[insert link]
This is a natural progression for me. I grew up in Radford and studied art at Radford University before pursuing a career as a professional artist. You can learn more about me [hyperlink] bio page.
10 years later, and the NRV has nearly become a local news desert, and we are here to fill that void.
As Creative Director
We’re building the creative team and are hiring.
Our first effort towards producing and promoting public art is by replacing and painting the outdoor piano in downtown Blacksburg.
I wanted to show by example by painting the first public art piece of many to come. I came into the project after the transplant was delivered and began by stretching a canvas on the back of piano as a base.
We chose the Boombox image to paint on the back referencing Joey Paleukus mural on Mural Row for the original 16 Blocks mural project.
[insert both Boombox images]
I am also currently painting the first cover image. More details to come.
As Head of Marketing,
I know and have a passion for the intersection of art and commerce and it is the sponsors and patrons that allows us to grow our team and support local business and artists. .
I would love to set up a meeting to discuss the opportunities of how we can work together.
